C4T #1

I was assigned to Mrs. Vicki Davis' blog. It is entitled "Cool Cat Teacher Blog". She is incorporating technology into her classroom.

In the first blog post I commented on she was blogging about incorporating Google Earth into the classroom lesson plans. Several activities can come from Google Earth. Students can look up a place they want to study about and get different kinds of info about that particular place. In my comment, I told her that this was a great way to use technology in the classroom. Google has a lot of different tools for students to use now that encourage fun learning. I also mentioned that we were learning how to use the different tools of Google in our EDM 310 class.

The second blog post I commented on was so inspirational. Mrs. Davis was reflecting on how she was always busy and never got to spend that much time with her family. She said that we all need to realize from day to day that we are not granted life. Mrs. Davis said to enjoy each moment that you have with family, because babies will get older and not give out hugs or love as often as they use to. In my comment, I told her that I was so glad that I was able to read this post. It opened my eyes and made me realize that I need to spend as much time with my family as possible. I need to stop stressing over getting everything done and enjoy special moments with my baby, husband, and parents.

  1. I have a little profile description that I use on most of my online profiles. It starts:

Who Am I? A husband, a parent... An educator, a student...

And it goes on from there. It was very deliberate and important to me that I started with my family!

On a different topic, Vicki was one of the first teachers that I ever connected to online, and I've known her for 6+ years now, although we only met a year and a half ago face-to-face (in Beijing of all places). As you develop your PLN, you will be amazed by how much you learn from them and connect to them. I have an extended family now that spans the globe... Hope you start to develop the same! :)
